Eating with a busy lifestyle!

It has been a while since my last post! I have been super busy working lately, the unfortunate side of working in hospitality! But with new rosters I have been able to get a good work/life balance and getting new routines so I can make the most out of everyday.

Time is one big factor when it comes to having a balanced life. With working long hours, getting enough sleep, spending time to make meals, having a social life, getting some fitness in AND having some 'me time' it can be quite hard to fit everything in and sometimes things have to be sacrificed for others.

If you ever feel this way I can totally relate! When I finished studying I was working 2 jobs most days for 12 hours and working 7 days a week. This was not good at all! With limited breaks, I would quickly eat something while travelling to my 2nd job and finish late. And there are a lot of people who work even crazier hours than this! But there was no way I could keep this up. It wasn't healthy for my body. Fortunately I have managed to get some better hours that I am so happy with so I can keep doing things I love :)
Blogging is one of them and keeping a healthy lifestyle!

Here is a few pictures of what has been making me happy lately and have been helping me have a balanced lifestyle,

I love making salads with lots of flavours. This one has spinach, cous cous, roasted beetroot, avocado, tomato, olives, cucumber, homemade mayo and a poached egg. yum yum :)

I love to go running on the same track, its open and has a great view. It is winter here at the moment but this one day the sun decided to come out :)

I'll have more regular posts up now with some recipes I have been making over the last few weeks.
How do you keep a balanced lifestyle?

Easter Holidays + Graduation!

Over the weekend the Easter holidays were celebrated!
What a great time of year to spend time with family and friends!
I was fortunate enough to spend time in Central Otago NZ, and what a lovely place it is there. Especially at this time of year, lovely colours of autumn leaves and such a calm atmosphere.  ☁ ☼ ❁

Easter friday was a day to relax for me and reflect back on what a crazy couple of years it has been studying to be a chef! My graduation was on Thursday! woohoo! chapter of my life complete ✔
Now bring on full time working!
Anywhooo.. I wanted to share a wee sample of the MANY pictures ( I have a new phone that I am addicted to taking waaay to many pictures on... clogs up everything but o well) that I took during my easter break.

I am very fortunate that my family loves to get outdoors and be active. This was a great way to clear my head from books, studying and work.

I had some old bread leftover in the freezer that I don't eat and no one in my house ever really eats so I took them with me cause there is this lovely wee duck pond not too far from where we stay.

Over on my side if the world it is autumn! (Thumbs up for southern hemisphere!)
✌So the leaves were all over the ground, nice and crunchy ones too!

To your left are some pinot noir grapes. Central Otago is very well known for producing grapes for pinot noir wines. I'm not a big wine drinker but I can definitely appreciate these sweet grapes :)

Easter Friday lunch was Nana's Homemade vegetable soup with homemade wholegrain bread, Delish! You can check that out on my Instagram here Brits Instagram

I also made some hot cross buns! But that will be for another blog :)

I hope you all had a lovely Easter! Let me know what you got up to in the comments below

Farmers Market Haul!

So today I went to my local farmers market,

I love to go there every Sunday
I like to walk there to get some early morning Sunday fitness in :)

I was originally only after some sage for the garden , but I was tempted by some fresh fruit and veges!

I purchased, some fresh plums, cherry tomatos, onions and courgettes.
oh I also got the sage, can't wait to plant it.
The sage was $2
Plums and courgettes $3.90
Onions 1kg - $2
sage plant - $2
(all NZ$)

so pretty cheap shop overall :)
